This article is a follow-up to an article I wrote about On-Page Optimization . On-Page optimization enables each of your web pages to make the most out of the mojo that they have — but you need inbound links to create that mojo in the first place.

VoIP (or voice over internet protocol) has become an increasingly popular alternative to traditional long-distance phone calls. The reason? Cost. A VoIP provider can reduce your phone bills by as much as 80%, more than justifying the initial costs of buying the equipment and monthly or annual fees.

Choosing to go VoIP is easy; which VoIP provider you sign up with is trickier. With the number of companies and the diversity of packages to choose from, it’s hard to tell if you’re really getting your money’s worth. Here are some things to consider as you narrow down your choices: (more…)

Holy tightwads, Batman! A better PC than what you’re running costs less than a pair of designer jeans? What’s happened to the computer industry?

Were GQ magazine to design a computer, it would sport a Gucci leather jacket and stroll in slick Prada loafers. It would also cost eight, maybe nine thousand dollars. But when Fry’s Electronics designed the GQ system, it wasn’t thinking of luxury linens and leather. It wanted something cheap. The surprising thing is that the GQ (short for “Great Quality,” by the way, not Gentleman’s Quarterly) turns out to be a powerful PC. It’s low-cost, in other words, not high crap. (more…)

You find yourself in the need to add content to your website. You know that search engines like useful sites, sites that change periodically and add more value for visitors. So how can you add content to your site without having to write it yourself? Well, one answer to this question is provided by hiring someone to do the writing for you. You find a writer and pay him/her to generate content for your website. This is an alternative you should always consider, because it is good to have some unique content in your site, content that visitors will not find somewhere else. If you cannot generate some unique content yourself, then you should find someone to do it for you. You here a number of claims that blogging is the new media, and on certain days you can sort of believe it. But on other days, it’s not as obvious. It’s relatively clear that some sort of journalistic standards would need to be embraced for blogging to develop into a wider distributed and more respected medium. Many journalists are bloggers, which is somewhat ironic, because their industry is the one that’s most challenged by a new media. Journalists have long spent time and effort building up their credibility and establising professional organizations. Currently, blogging has very low quality standards, and that causes a credibility gap with the readership at large. (more…)
