A new virus that exploits a critical vulnerability in the Windows Metafile Format (WMF) has been released to the wild and is being used by malware (define) writers.

Security experts discovered the exploit, which affects versions of Microsoft’s Windows XP and Windows 2003 Web Server. Unlike many of the larger virus threats that have caused a stir in 2005, there isn’t a patch to plug the flaw. (more…)

Link Load Balancing evns out critical resources on data networks with unpredictable requests issued to a server. For example, a web site with heavy traffic may employ two, three or more servers in a link load balancing program. The link load balancing routines enable a network to “juggle” more traffic that otherwise possible If one server is overwhelmed, the link load balancing scheme forwards them to a different server with extra capacity. For a considerably long period, Google happened to provide new sites with a temporary boost, known as “fresh boost” or “new site bonus.” But recently this search giant seems to have set a new trend in place for Search Engine Page Rankings (SEPRs). It was found that that Google SERPs of brand new sites turned out to be pretty pathetic after the initial glorious days at the top of the search rankings. There seems to be a real problem with the up and coming generation with regard to proper email etiquette which is somewhat upsetting to the established professionalism expected in business. Much of this comes from the generation of instant messaging with small handheld devices like cell phone, PDAs and laptops.
